UPDATE: The 2008 Tequila Expo Festival did not take place as scheduled. It is unknown whether future tequila festivals will be held in Playa del Carmen. No further information is available from the Riviera Maya Tourism Board nor the organizer at this time.

This popular annual festival features tequila and mezcal sampling, complementary margaritas, live music and arts and crafts vendors. Tequila producers come primarily from the Mexican state of Jalisco to promote their tequilas and mezcals.

Some of the largest distilleries are represented. However, there are also ample opportunities to sample lesser known, fine tequilas only available for purchase in Mexico.
